OP shop: Save Mart

This Monday, I went to Save Mart which is an op shop located in Hornby with my friend Annelise. Wow, it's really large, you can almost find anything related to clothes like designer's dresses, street fashion, sportswear, baby stuff ,pajamas as well as table linen, curtains, dovet, dovet covers, etc. And the stuff there is really really cheap. If you take some time there, you will find something really good. Look at what I got from there, a nice baby blanket or something like that. I don't have babies but I have two cats. So I bought it for one of my cats: Gary since the two cats can never be nice to each other, I have to separate them in different rooms.

It seems Gary quite likes his new bed. But you need to wash your face buddy!
Can you guess where the forth leg is in the last picture. Haha I haven't done anything to the picture.
Finally, you know how much this blanket thing costs me? just 16 dollars! Wow, what a good deal!
On our way back home, we stopped by at the ECO shop in Riccarton. There are lots of  second-hand books, kitchenwears, furniture, even toys!

So guys never forget there are always better ways to shop smartly!

Have a good night!

How to get smooth healthy hair?

Smooth healthy hair is always girls' favourite.

I think it's a common experience that when we were children most of us had beautiful hair with high quality.  As we grow up, everything is changing. Our skin is no longer as tender and silky as before. Our hair starts to become dry,  brittle, and  prone to tangling, and to split at the end or anywhere along the shaft. Our sleep is not as sweet as it used to be. Why? Why? Why do all these bad things happen to us? It seems like that when we are young, we kind of have a strong magic inner power in our body which protects us so well. As we grow up, this magic power gradually disappears. It's a very complicated question to explain. However it's not our business. Just leave it to those scientists. All we need to do is to realise the fact first and then try to make it up.

I've been using shampoo and conditioner to wash and protect our hair for so many years and it becomes the rule. Frankly speaking, I never doubted it before. I treated it as common knowledge just like we need food to survive. If it were not for my hair loss which makes my hair half as much as that I had before, maybe I will keep abeying it. However, it does not work this way. My hair has kept losing for quite a few years. I can still remember the hair I used to have. They were as black as coal, as smoothy as silk. Look at my hair now: what a hay stack!!

I didnot make a change to my hair until I attended the eco my flat competition and met Sharon McIver who gave me a lot of brilliant eco-friendly ideas. I was so inspired and decided to make a chang.

Together with Sharon's advice, I have three most natural ways to wash and protect your hair.

First, a recipe from Sharon:700ml water,100ml cider vinegar, a small twig of rosemary, a small twig of parsley. Boil them all together for five minutes and then cool.

Second, beer!

Third, a traditional way commonly used by Minority Dai in south China. People of Dai, esp women, never use chemical shampoo and conditioner as they speed up losing hair according to a Dai dancer. Their secret recipe is to take the water that cleans out rice and let it fermented for a few days until it becomes sour then use the sour water to wash your hair. It cleans your hair effectively and also helps grow melanin which makes your hair black! If you think it's a little bit bothered here is a convenient way: instead of fermenting you can just put a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar in it and use it directly. It also works well!

I haven't tried the first recipe, but according to Sharon, it's quite good to hair as her hair is smooth and shining. The most surprising thing is that Sharon washes her hair almost twice per month. Wow! It's amasing! I'll try this recipe some other day!

The beer one! Well it does a great job in avoiding hair loss. I almost did not lose any during the period I used beer to wash my hair. What a surprise! However I prefer drinking it directly! Yummy ^_^

The rice water one, well I personally quite like it as there will be no waste at all! And my hair seems to quite like drinking the special drink for it. It becomes quite moisterized as everytime I touch my hair, it's not dry anymore. Since I curled my hair in March, it seems to be more curly after using the rice water. I'm pretty confident in this recipe and gonna keep using it. I'll let you guys know what happens to my hair in the future, so keep an eye on this site!

Have a good night!

Hi, everybody!

Sorry I'm a little bit late. feel really stressed under the pressure of both final exams and aftershocks. I hope you guys are all fine.

So let's start our journey to the world of nature together to feel the magic power of the earth. It's a little bit like going back to the ancient time as we try to live without shops where you can buy cleanser, shampoo, conditioner, skincare products, etc. Have you ever thought how our ancetors lived when there was no shop at all? How did they protect their skin? How did they keep healthy? Well they must have their own way! Then what is their way? Do you ever feel curious of it? Well I do! Then here comes the question: are the products that we are using everyday really good for us and our earth? I know it's impossible that we make everything we need ourselves as trade does make us better off which is one of the most fundamental principals in economics. What I mean here is we do not need a revolution but we can do some change little by little to avoid going to the extreme which is either a world full of so-called high-tech products or a world of extremely low productivity. So this blog is aiming at learning and sharing the way to live eco-friendly. Hopefully you guys can find something useful here and if you got some awesome ideas you are very welcome to share them with us!

Have a good day!
